It's New Year's Eve and Abidjan is getting ready to celebrate! With the members of her party, Agnès is preparing to give a reception as her daughter Estelle prepares the inauguration of her beauty salon. Meanwhile, Kader tries to sell his soaps and Fousseni doubles the price charged for transport.

Caroline heads off to order a fish soup from Alicia's café, in an attempt to save Agnès' party. Diouf suggests to Kévin that he makes the most of Estelle's evening to silence the rumours about his homosexuality. Yaya and Solou advise Kader to present his dermatological soaps to Estelle.

At Agnès' party, Mr Gnépo congratulates her on her new position as general secretary of the party. Alain and Alicia are avoiding one another. At Estelle's inauguration, Kévin is chatted up by a man. Kader tries to present his soaps to Estelle, too shaken by seeing her ex-boyfriend Dylan again.

Mrs Da Sylva, the strange woman who was watching Agnès at the party meeting, arranges to meet her in a casino. Pushed by Diouf, Kévin declares his feelings to Nina. After an argument with the mini-bus driver, Fousseni grabs his keys and replaces him.

In gnawa tradition, a true maalem (master musician) is someone who makes their own musical instrument. Here, the gnawa maalem Essaddiq has damaged his sintir and must make a new one according to the traditional process. For him, it is unthinkable to play an instrument made by someone else.
