Solange, Michèle and Fanny, very different, are united by the same combat: a strike by the chambermaids of a hotel, which appears to be a losing battle. By changing their lives and their principles, this combat will bring them out of their solitude and at last make them visible.
In 2013, a train carrying a massive load of petrol derails in the town of Lac-Mégantic in Quebec. The many explosions and fires cause forty-seven deaths; two thousand people are evacuated. By chance, Roland Cassard, a disillusioned young man, meets childhood sweetheart Cécile in Nantes. Cécile has become Lola, a cabaret dancer popular with visiting sailors. Roland still loves her. But Lola is waiting for Michel, her great love and father of her child, who's been gone for seven years...
